Privacy Policy

Akenai Connect ("the App") is a VPN client for iOS developed by Akenai ("we", "us"). This policy describes how we handle your information.

Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the service:

Device identifier — a randomly generated ID stored in your device's Keychain, used solely to enforce the per-subscription device limit. It is not linked to your Apple ID or any personal information.
Subscription URL — the server configuration link you provide during setup, stored locally on your device.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not log, monitor, or store your network traffic, browsing history, or DNS queries.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or Apple ID.
We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking frameworks.
We do not transmit any personal data to our servers or to third parties.

Camera Access

The App may request camera access to scan a QR code containing your subscription link. Camera data is processed entirely on-device and is never recorded or transmitted.

Local Data Storage

All app data — including your VPN configuration and preferences — is stored locally on your device using the iOS Keychain, App Group container, and a local database. This data is protected by iOS system-level encryption and is not accessible to other apps.

Network Extension

The App uses the iOS Network Extension framework to establish VPN connections. All network traffic is routed through the VPN tunnel directly to the server specified in your configuration. We have no visibility into this traffic.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, share, or otherwise disclose any user data to third parties. There are no third-party SDKs, analytics services, or advertising networks integrated into the App.

Data Retention

Since we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing to retain. Local data on your device is removed when you uninstall the App.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
